GRAND RAPIDS, Mich (WOTV) – After the long winter, spring is finally here! If you’re itching for a little R & R, look no further than your own backyard. Planning a West Michigan staycation is easy if you use a few smart tips.

  1. Tour a local brewery. It could add a new spin on your favorite place or let you experience one of your favorite beer companies in a new way. Tours are usually pretty inexpensive and it’s a great way to get to know local business owners and
  2. Check out Airbnb. It’s a great alternative to pricey hotels and there are tons of different accommodations to choose from in all your favorite West Michigan cities. Here are a few I found:

Modern condo in Downtown Grand Rapids

Stay conveniently downtown in this swanky Grand Rapids apartment! Be close to your favorite restaurants and museums, or relax on the outdoor patio. Depending on the weekend, you could spend the night here for $105.

Stay on the bay in Traverse City

One bedroom guest suite with kitchenette directly across from the beach! Hello, even before swim season this would be a relaxing retreat. This is priced at $150 a night, which is very reasonable for a beach front stay in Traverse City.

Charming home in Grand Haven

Grand Haven is a great little Lakeshore town to explore. This Airbnb rental stands as low as $75 a night which is a great deal for an entire apartment that includes a deck. A great oasis to relax and take in the charm of West Michigan.

Apartment nestled in the Lake Michigan Dunes

Find serenity in the Lake Michigan dunes at this cozy Airbnb. Located in Spring Lake for $40 a night, it’s a great option that’s close by!

3. Have fun and reset in your home. Go buy a new nail polish or face mask and have a relaxing spa day at home with a warm bubble bath and pedicures. Or do a movie marathon. Keep the lights low, wrap up in a fluffy blanket and unwind.

4. Get outside! Take advantage of the mild weather and take a walk around your favorite West Michigan City. Act like a tourist and bring your camera! You’ll see your own backyard in a whole new light (and in a sunnier season).
