GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOTV) - Help your body fight off the symptoms of chronic stress with adrenal support. The months leading up to the end of year can be jam packed with commitments and deadlines. We work too much, maybe celebrate too much and sleep too little. This situation makes for a perfect storm of lowered immune response and adrenal fatigue.
What are my adrenal glands??? These glands are a pair of walnut-sized endocrine organs positioned near the kidneys. They secrete hormones (such as adrenaline and cortisol) associated with the body’s stress response. The primary purpose is to help us cope with stress response. They also become the primary source of hormones such as estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone in both men and women as we age. When too much strain is placed on these glands, it can have a detrimental impact on how we handle stress and also on our overall health and wellbeing.
Here is a short list of some common symptoms –
- Change in blood pressure
- Sugar or salt cravings
- Weight loss or gain
- Feeling chaotic, overwhelmed or anxious
- Mood swings
- Lack of concentration
- Weak immune function
- Sleep Issues
- Low libido
- Increased perimenopausal or PMS symptoms, in Women
What to do? Well I would like to tell you to slow down, get to bed earlier, turn off the laptop and or TV. Remove known stressors from your life. Get out in nature. Meditate, practice Yoga. And eat a healthy diet of whole foods! Do some or ALL of that and if still you are feeling the strain of our busy culture please take care of yourself with some outside help.
Tulsi or Holy Basil is one of my favorites. You can get this as a tincture, tablets and even a tea.
Adrenal RX – This one has GOOD STUFF included like Ashwagandha and Ginseng.
I picked up a great tasting and organic Lemon Ginger Tulsi Tea at Harvest Health Cascade.
Take good care of the body you have. Love it and it will love you right back.
