It is SO important to maintain a high balance of wholefoods including Superfoods in to your diet. We literally are what we eat so all health and body functions depend on eating healthy foods and having good digestion. But you can also benefit from the use of super foods in your skin care regime. I generally feel like I do not want to put anything on my skin that I would not be comfortable getting in my mouth. This is a good rule of thumb to keep your products safe and toxic chemical free. And many of the super foods we strive to include in our diet can be used topically as well.
Turmeric – This little root is a gem right down to its jewel tone coloring. Turmeric is an herb used for centuries in Ayurvedic skincare that has naturally occurring anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, and anti-microbial properties and works to naturally replenish the skin, leaving it with a natural glow. Turmeric is soothing to sensitive or inflamed skin and can treat a variety of skin conditions.
Ginseng – A plant and tuber that is prized as an anti-aging ingredient because it has a wealth of phytonutrients. This skincare giant will help to tone and brighten dull skin. Also with it’s anti inflammatory properties, ginseng will de-puff under eye skin and combat dark circles. Yay!
Moringa – A super SEED. Moringa Seed oil is a natural, vitamin rich skin moisturizer that also helps fight acne, black heads and dark spots, and heals cuts, burns and rashes. It also promotes collagen formation and works as an anti-aging agent.
Never simply rely on topical treatments for your skin, what you put in is equal in importance to what you apply topically but use good ingredients inside and out!
