Not all candles are created equal – check before you buy

Not all candles are created equal!  Check your candle labels before you buy.  Many candles are made from paraffin which is petroleum based that is a non-renewable source AND contains carcinogenic substances that may be released into the air as you burn.  You might even notice a black “soot” that collects around your candle as it burns.  Instead look for Soy based candles.  These candles burn cleaner AND last longer.  They tend to hold the scent better and with soy candles there are NO toxins, carcinogens, or pollutants, and therefore much less likely to trigger allergies.

Bonus – Using candles made from soy supports local agriculture and farmers, allowing them to make money and grow their operations.

In my own home, I’m burning a Dirty Girl Farms soy candle with an aromatic Sandalwood scent. They’re affordable, local and and come in a ton of great scents using sustainable materials and also completely vegan and cruelty free.
