Samaritas' "Academy" - Free classes for seniors

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOTV) - At Samaritas, we know it’s important to keep your brain sharp as you age. We offer our residents and community members the Academy. We host free classes on everything from cooking to local history. There are plenty of ways to get involved with the Academy.

  • Come to a class! Even if you are not a senior and looking for a senior living community, we invite you to take part in these free classes. Our residents enjoy interacting with community members of all ages.
  • Volunteer! We could always use help setting up and running classes. If you would like to volunteer, please reach out to seniors@samaritas.org or visit samaritas.org/theacademy.
  • Teach! Do you have a skill or talent that you are passionate about sharing with others? We are always looking for people to teach Academy classes. Whether you are a professor, business owner or just someone with an interest, please reach out to seniors@samaritas.org or visit samaritas.org/theacademy.

Have you heard of Pop-up! Academy classes? Now, we’re able to bring you classes on-the-fly, that are still exciting, free and relevant to the things YOU want to learn about. If we get a request for a class or a teacher interested in sharing their knowledge, we don’t have to wait an entire season. We can bring you that class within a week!

Make sure you follow us on social media and are on our e-news list because we have an suspicion, these classes will fill up fast!

To be added to our e-news list, learn how to get involved in teaching, volunteering, sponsorships or to suggest ideas for additional courses contact Emma Begeman at 616.284.5790 or ebege@samaritas.org.
