15th annual Mel Trotter Turkey Drop

Community Outreach

Turkey Drop is an annual tradition in West Michigan. This year is the 15th anniversary of the Mel Trotter Ministries, WOOD Radio, and Celebration Cinema partnership! The three organizations are working together – with your help – for an entire day devoted to collecting frozen turkeys for our neighbors in need in the greater Grand Rapids area.

  • Date: November 14
  • Time: 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.
  • Location: Celebration! Cinema North, Celebration! Cinema South, Mel Trotter Ministries (downtown Mission)
  • Give a turkey online: www.meltrotter.org/turkeydrop

What will the turkeys be used for? The frozen turkeys are collected by Mel Trotter Ministries, some are saved to help feed guests at the Mission with turkey themed meals throughout the holiday season and the entire year. MTM also partners with several other pantries in the area to share the frozen turkeys to help families who are facing poverty and food insecurity to help them have a turkey on their table for Thanksgiving and/or Christmas.

What is the turkey goal this year? Our goal this year is 1,500 frozen turkeys for 15 years of helping feed West Michigan individuals during the holiday season.
