There’s nothing like a quick and easy face mask that you can do right in the comfort of your own home to for a little relaxation and self-care. So, when you want to give your skin some TLC, but can’t bring yourself to leave the vicinity of your kitchen, try mixing these staple ingredients on your lovely face.
As promised, here are a few of my favorite DIY Face Mask Recipes.
- Breakfast Scramble Face Mask – Combine 1/2 cup hot—not boiling—water and 1/3 cup oatmeal. After the water and oatmeal have settled for two or three minutes, mix in 2 tablespoons plain yogurt, 2 tablespoons honey, and one small egg white. Apply a thin layer of the mask to your face, and let it sit for ten to 15 minutes. Then rinse with warm water.
- Cocoa Dream Hydration Mask – Mash one quarter of an avocado in a small bowl. Stir in one tablespoon cocoa powder and one tablespoon honey, mashing and mixing well. Apply the mask to your clean, dry skin for 10 minutes. Wash off with warm water, then moisturize as per usual.
- Totally Awesome Organic Banana Face Mask – Mash one-half of a banana in a bowl. Mix in a tablespoon of orange juice and a tablespoon of honey. Apply the mask to your face (lumps are totally fine!) and keep the mixture on for 15 minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water and then moisturize.
These face masks will give your skin such a healthy, natural-looking glow at a fraction of the cost for a spa visit. All of these recipes are very easy to mix-up and are designed to be gentle enough for all skin types unless you are allergic to a specified ingredient listed above.
Most of these ingredients contain skin soothing antioxidant, antibacterial and/or anti-inflammatory properties. So go ahead… treat yourself to a private pamper party at home the next time the kids are away and your husband is on a business trip. You can thank me later…
