GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOTV) Acne is tough for teens to deal with. It is brought on by hormones, and can be made worse by sweat and stress. Dr. Mary Yurko from Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital says while acne often occurs during puberty, around ages 14 to 18, it can happen at any age. She shares her best tips for controlling acne:
- Wash your face before bed and in the morning
- Visit your doctor to see if a prescription is needed
- Use the medicine you’re given
- Try not to manipulate acne spots because it can further damage them
