GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOTV) - It wasn’t a normal Monday morning at Samaritas Senior Living. Residents in the Memory Care Area gathered for a bit of chit chat and comradery and to welcome some special visitors. The visitors help the residents with physical function and things like motion and social interaction. The visitors are small and mighty and bring a smile. The visitors are a group of miniature therapy horses from Jacob’s Lighthouse Inc. in Zeeland. Oscar and Oliver, the miniature horses, come in 2 times a month.
Cassie Fosburg is the Activities Coordinator Samaritas Senior Living. She says horses were such a big part of many of our residents' lives when they were growing up and getting visits from Oscar and Oliver help residents to relive those times in their lives.
