Maranda got a chance to visit West Michigan Aviation Academy at the Ford International Airport.
It’s a school but so much more. It’s unique in that students come from 7 different counties and 40 high schools around West Michigan. It’s a STEM School that’s also a charter school. They teach aviation, engineering, robotics, computer science and biomedical engineering.
Students Maranda spoke with say what stands out to them is the culture at the school, with students coming from so many areas, they get to experience different cultures and blend together, they say it feels like family.
The school recently won a national award at the Legends in Aviation Ceremony in Beverly Hills, California. They are proud to be the only school doing what they are doing for students, right on the grounds of an airport.
