Grand Rapids  Griffins Purple Community Game
Friday at Van Andel Arena at 7pm

  • 50/50 Raffle with 100% of proceeds going to Van Andel Institute (VAI).

  • Limited-edition Purple Community game jersey auction after the game located at The Intermission restaurant inside the arena.

  • Limited-edition co-branded apparel featuring Purple Community and the Grand Rapids Griffins.

  • Lower Level Center Ice seats available for $25 and Lower Level Face Off seats available for just $21 (savings of $4 per ticket) with proceeds from each sold going to VAI.

Butterflies are Blooming at Meijer Gardens

This temporary, annual exhibition features thousands of tropical butterflies from Central and South America, Africa and Asia freely flying in the Tropical Conservatory. From March 1 through April 30, experience butterflies close up and watch them emerge from their chrysalises right before your eyes.

Madagascar Junior at Kalamazoo Civic Theatre 

Based on the smash DreamWorks animated motion picture, Madagascar – A Musical Adventure JR. follows all of your favorite zoo friends as they find themselves on an unexpected journey to the madcap world of King Julien’s Madagascar.

Friday at 7:30pm
Saturday 1pm & 4pm
Sunday at 2pm

Free Day Sunday at Grand Rapids Public Museum 

Doors open at the museum free of charge from 10am to 5pm

Visitors will receive free general admission on this day to explore the Museum’s three floors of core exhibits at no cost, and get hands on with agriculture-themed activities from Kent County Farm Bureau and artifacts from the GRPM Collections. 

TOYS! will be included free of charge for visitors on the Museum’s Free Day! Visitors will rekindle childhood memories and spark the creation of new ones in this interactive, multi-generation exhibition of toys and games.

Additional experiences for visitors include the special traveling exhibit Expedition: Dinosaurplanetarium shows and the Museum’s 1928 Spillman Carousel – that are available for an additional charge.

John Ball Zoo opens for the season 

Zoo opens on Saturday, March 9 at 10am
Hours: 10am-4pm 
Admission: Adults $10, seniors $8, children 2-12 $8 children 1 and under free
