GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOTV) - Maranda’s Park Parties traveled to five communities across West Michigan, including today’s event at Bronson Park in downtown Kalamazoo. 4,800 kids and families turned out at the final Park Party of the summer bringing this year’s total to an estimated 33,300 participants!
“It was a beautiful day in downtown Kalamazoo for the final park party of the 2018 season. City officials estimated 4,800 kids and families enjoy the afternoon on Bronson Park. A huge thank you to all of our partners, host locations, interns, co-workers, and great families who supported each of these events. It was an awesome 24th season,” Maranda said.

This year’s Maranda Park Party season was full of free fun and lots of great giveaways! In a partnership with the Michigan Department of Education and local area school districts over 13,100 free lunches were provided to kids under the age of 18! Maranda’s generous partners also stepped up in a big way! Comcast painted the park green- outfitting kids with over 25,000 brightly colored backpacks and our friends from Priority Health gave away nearly 15,000 fitness trackers. Kids could keep cool thanks to 20,800 Country Fresh ice cream sandwiches and 28,000 bottles of Aquafina water.
Maranda and the team passed out 20,000 bags of Cheese Kurls and nearly 1,000 prizes! It was a picture-perfect forecast for the entire park party lineup resulting in over 33,300 smiling faces! This season Maranda and the Park Party crew visited the following locations:
