Help your child manage stress

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOTV) Stress is impacting the lives of our children. Rebecca Busman, M.A. at Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services says kids are stressed by a number of things including busy schedules, stress at school, and preparing for college. Stress can come from a number of sources including peers, social norms, parents, and more.

Busman says social media plays a role because it’s time consuming and can get in the way of school work and face-to-face socializing.

She says the best way to manage stress in family life is by teaching children healthy coping styles, helping them manage their schedules, and encourage a healthy lifestyle that includes good nutrition, exercise, and plenty of sleep.
