This fun filled fundraiser will begin with snowball throwing contests (at targets), guided explorations on snowshoes and live Irish Music from Tiki O’Riley. We will also have a winter themed craft. There will be a selection of homemade soups and stews, breads and beverages available by donation. This is sure to be a great time for family and friends.

The Holland Museum will be open free of charge to celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Learn about inventors from diverse backgrounds and explore how you can change the world! Please join us for family activities all day long.

  • Learn about Martin Luther King, Jr.’s life by exploring a display in the Museum lobby
  • Be inspired by Martin Luther King, Jr.’s own words while watching a selection of his full-length speeches in the Museum lobby
  • Participate in a scavenger hunt in the Museum galleries to learn about the Civil Rights Movement
  • In Spark!Lab, learn about inventors from diverse backgrounds who helped their communities
  • Create a make-and-take handprint craft to share how you might change the world

MLK Free Community Day at the MMA

Monday, January 21

10 a.m. – 8 p.m.

The Muskegon Museum of Art invites the public to annual Martin Luther King Jr. Free Community Day. Activities will include: Screenings of the newly created Black Man documentary film by Jon Covington, art and craft activity, gallery tours presented by Muskegon High School A.P. art students and MMA docents, an evening panel discussion, and exhibitions that include SONS: Seeing the Modern African American Male. MLK Community Day admission and activities are free.
