It’s just 82 days until the largest 25K in the county fills the streets of downtown Grand Rapids for the Amway River Bank Run. More than 18,000 people are expected to take part in race day events including the 25K relay, 25K handcycle and wheelchair division, 10K, 5K runs and community walk.
In addition to all the runners and walkers taking part, an event of this magnitude can’t happen without volunteers. Amway is looking for volunteers to help in all aspects of the race – from River Bank Run Junior on Wednesday, May 8; the Sports and Fitness Expo on May 10 and, of course – race day! It takes 1,500 to 1,600 volunteers to make it all run.
This year’s race comes with a new name, but the old title sponsor, Fifth Third Bank, is still a big part of all the events. Fifth Third remains heavily involved, behind the scenes helping create the same race-day experience runners and spectators have always expected.
Spectrum Health, for a second year, is the preferred health partner, of the River Bank Run. They say being part of the race aligns with their mission of promoting health and well being in the communities they serve.
