These are facts that should make everyone be aware that the illness can affect anyone. Maranda sat down with Kelly Boprie of Pine Rest and Rebecca Mason of Priority Health to learn more.

  • Weight fluctuations
  • Intense fear of gaining weight
  • Preoccupation with food, calories, dieting & exercise
  • Withdraws from social activities
  • Loss of period

TIPS FOR PARENTS

  • Take them seriously – trust your intuition
    See pediatrician or doctor
    Establish regularly scheduled meals for the entire family
    Validate your child’s difficulties
    Don’t lecture
  • Practice what you preach
  • Don’t label foods “good” or “bad”
  • Focus on health not weight
  • Help kids with holistic, homemade food tips
