With all the numbers women have to remember nowadays, it’s hard to imagine having to remember anymore. Between phone numbers, dates on a calender, birthdays and passwords, it almost seems impossible to think about your health numbers. However, unlike your Facebook password knowing these numbers could save your life.

Understanding what your blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar and body mass index (BMI) numbers mean will help you assess your risk for heart disease and stroke.

These critical numbers will help you and your healthcare provider determine your risk for Cardiovascular Disease by Atherosclerosis. This could include conditions such as chest pain, Heart Attack, Stroke and Peripheral Artery Disease. 

Ideal numbers for most adults are: 

  • Blood Pressure: 120 / 80 mm Hg 
  • Body Mass Index (BMI): 25 kg / m
  • Fasting Blood Sugar 100 mg / dL
  • Total Cholesterol / HDL (Good Cholesterol): Get your cholesterol checked by a doctor to understand how it impacts your good cholesterol and your overall heart health.
