$20 youth summer camp offers science, technology, math, art and science

Ionia, Mich. (WOTV)-The Ionia County Intermediate School District’s (ICISD) AmeriCorps VISTAs are partnering with Central Michigan University to host two summer camps for incoming 6th graders focused on Science Technology Engineering Arts and Mathematics (STEAM).

Throughout camp, students are able to work with STEAM field experts, experience field trips, have fun hands-on activities and make new friends. Lunch will be provided.

“In STEAM Camp we give fifth graders a chance to explore STEAM subjects using hands on activities. We hope as they enter middle school they will choose to take courses they’ve discovered they might actually like and enjoy,” said Lynda Richter, STEAM Camp Director.

This marks the fourth summer that camp will be held, but this is the first year that there will be two sessions. Each session runs two weeks, Monday through Thursday from 9 AM – 4 PM, at the HO Steele Education Center, 10260 S. Sheridan Rd, Fenwick. Transportation is available from the ICISD.

Each session costs $20 each (scholarships are available). The first session is from June 13th-16th and June 20th-23rd. The second session is from July 25th-28th and August 1st-4th. Students are welcome to attend both.

Register your student by May 27th, online. Please send registration fee to:

The ICISD, 2191 Harwood Rd, Ionia. Note, this is a non-refundable fee and camper spot is not guaranteed until payment is received.
