The picture above is my backyard shortly before 10 am – about an inch of snow on the ground – 32 degees with a cold E wind.  Current temperatures (as I write this) have remained are above freezing in most areas and most main roads are dry to wet (not icy).  At 9 am Big Rapids was 31 deg.,  Farther north there are slick spots.   At 9 am, Gaylord reported heavy snow with 26 deg. and Traverse City had moderate snow and icy spots.  Wind gusts are 25-35 mph and it’ll stay windy all day and into tomorrow.  Most of us will stay dry for most of this midday and afternoon.  To the south it’s in the low 40s south of Benton Harbor.  St. Louis is 72 at 9 am – we won’t get into that warm air here.

Snowfall:  2.5″ St. Johns, 2.0″ Grattan Twp and Twin Lake, 1.3″ Grant, 1.2″ Alpine Twp.,

After this…we get a round of showers and possible thunderstorms Thurs. evening into Thursday night …I’ve got a separate thread on that…then windy Friday and colder than average over the weekend.

G.R. (airport) had 0.6″ of snow – bringing the season total to an even 77.0″.  Muskegon also added 0.6″.  I had 1.2″ at my house in Alpine Township.  There was a little slushy (not icy) snow on the driveway.

This has been quite the storm to our west.  Peak wind gusts:  107 mph W. Pueblo CO, 88 mph Frankliin Peak TX, 77 mph Clovis NM.  Clariton IA had a wind of 40 mph with gusts to 60 mph at 9 am.  Snowfall:  26″ Alta UT, 23″ Badger Pass MT, 18″ Lander WY (the snowiest month of the year in Lander is April).  Up to 18″ in S. Dakota, up to 8″ in MN and 5.4″ at Plover WI. with more to come.
