Record Cold Saturday AM

Look at the low temps. from N. Michigan last night.  The -25 (actual low was -25, not -24) at Alpena was a record low temp. for Jan. 26.  Other record lows:  -30 Leota (Clare Co.) and Atlanta, -26 Glennie, -24 Baldwin, Evart, Moran, -23 Cadillac, -22 Houghton Lake, -21 Big Rapids and Mecosta, -19 Entrican (Montcalm Co.) .  In the U.P., it was -34 at Stambaugh and Champion, -33 at Wakefield, -32 at Garden Corners, -31 at Stonington and -26 at Marquette.  Marquette set both a record low temp. and a record low maximum temp. on Friday with a high of 3 and a low of -20.  Grand Rapids got down to -2 last night.  The coldest in the U.S. was -38 at Ash Lake MN. 

Here’s low temps. Sat. AM – look at the -40s not too far north of Lake Huron and the -40s north of Lake Winnipeg…that’s the air that’s coming down here for next Weds.  It was cool over much of the East, 23 in Macon, 33 with scat. frost at Tallahassee FL and 31 at Mobile AL.  Mobile could reach the low 20s Tues. night.
