At 8 am Weds. – the temperature was 30° in Phoenix, Arizona – the coldest it was been there since Jan. 15, 2013.   At the same time, the temperature in Anchorage, Alaska was 36°.  Phoenix has now had 6 days in a row with high temperatures only in the low-mid 50s.  The average high tempeature in Phoenix for the first week of January is 66° and the average low is 45°

Here’s a map of temperatures across the Arizona desert…low 20s to mid 30s – pretty chilly.  High temperatures in the 60s extended well south into Mexico.

Snowplows were trying to clear snow from I-10 near Benson.  Bellemont AZ had a solid snowcover and an early morning low temperature of -7° and the Grand Canyon Airport dipped to -9°.
