From the Portland MI police: Conditions were extremely hazardous this AM, Yet many drivers failed to heed this warning & operate with common sense. A Portland PD Officer was struck while attending to other vehicle crashes. Fortunately, the Officer only sustained minor injuries.
This ambulance lost control on icy I-94 Saturday PM. The 22-year old driver had non life-threatening inuries. The patient in transport and the medic with him were not seriously injured.
From the Kent Co. Road Commission: “Overnight, crews scraped, treated state roads. Day crews continuing on county primaries & locals-likely won’t get into neighborhoods. Temps continue to drop, reducing effectiveness of salt. Reduce speeds & leave plenty of distance between vehicles.”
