Ice Jams on the Grand River

Bill's Blog

In Ionia Co., there is still an ice jame on the Grand River at Portland.  However, water is getting thru.  At the gauge (not where the most significant flooding occurred, the river is nearly 3 feet below flood stage.  There was a spike Tuesday on the Looking Glass River at Eagle.  The river went up about 2 feet to an inch above flood stage…then quickly back down.

The gauge reading on the Grand River in Comstock Park is about three feet below flood stage and it has been falling slowly.  Residents along the Grand River (Abrigador Trail, Konkle Drive, Willow Drive, Elmdale, Riverbank) should still keep an eye on the river. Ice starts around the North Park Bridge.

We tracking the ice jams.  The Grand River at Robinson Township in Ottawa County is at 11.2 feet – below the 13.3 foot flood stage and down a couple of inches.  At Eastmanville, the river is well below flood stage and steady.

The Muskegon river is well below flood stage in Newaygo Co. at Newaygo and Bridgeton.

The has been a significant ice jam on the Maumee River in NW Ohio. Damage at park from ice jam.
