Grand Rapids officially reached 90 degrees Monday afternoon, the 19th 90-degree day of 2018. That ties 2018 with 2016, which also had nineteen 90-degree days. The number of 90-degree days varies quite a bit. We had thirty-seven 90-degree days in 1988. Second place is 35 in 1894, followed by thirty-four 90-degree days in 1931. We’ve had two years when we did not reach 90 degrees. That was 1951 and 2014. We average 10 days of 90-degree heat per year in G.R.
Battle Creek also reached 90 degrees. The high temps. at the lakeshore are at the airports. The high temperature at the S. Haven beach was 79 and the high at the Muskegon beach was 75.
