The map above shows the snow and ice extent across North America. The contiguous U.S. had a 42.8% snow cover. That is the highest extent for Dec. 5 since 2005. The only parts of Canada that don't have snow on the ground are parts of British Columbia, far eastern Nova Scotia and SW Ontario east of Michigan.
