Long-Range Outlook - Cold and More Snow

Above is the 8-14 Day temperatures outlook from the Climate Prediction Center.  It shows a LOT of dark blue!  Looks like cool will rule for the period from Feb. 18-24.  The only place warm is in the SE US, where the warm ridge has held for much of the winter.

This is the Canadian NAEFS model for the same period, Feb. 18-24 and it looks pretty much the same with coast-to-coast cold.  Here's a link to the European model, which says the same thing - warm in the Southeast and cold about everywhere else.

Antelope, Montana dropped to 50 below zero Sunday AM.  There were lots of record low and record high temperatures in the NW U.S.  The high temp. at Cut Bank Mt. was -12 (old record was -7), Great Falls never got warmer than -8 and Stanford MT had a high of -10 - breaking the old lowest high temperature by 13 degrees (old record +3 in 1948.  Records there go back to 1927.
