Calm Winds - Updated 10 pm Wed.

The average wind speed in Grand Rapids over the last 9 days (Tue. to Wed, the 11th - 19th) was 4 mph.  I can't remember a nine-day stretch that was this calm.  We had three days in a row (Tue. thru Thu.) with an average wind of 3.1 mph each day - which is really unusual to have 3 days with the same average wind down to a tenth of a mph.  Friday's average wind of 2.1 mph was the calmest day in over a year (1.8 mph on 9/11/2017).

So far, we've had 57% of possible sunshine in Sept. and we are running 5.1 deg. warmer than average.  Rainfall has totaled 2.07" and that's a little below average for the first 19 days of Sept. (no rain again today).  Grand Rapids has had just 0.09" of rain in the last 13 days.  Our rain lately has been coming "in clumps".  We have now gone over 4 months (since May 12) without a temperature below 45 deg. in G.R.  Cooler air is on the way for the weekend and especially for late next week.
