GRAND RAPIDS TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD)  — A driver from Muskegon was killed when his vehicle crashed into the back of a semi-truck on East Beltline Avenue, Kent County authorities say.

It happened around 10:15 a.m. Wednesday in the northbound lanes of East Beltline Avenue/M-44 at Leonard Street in Grand Rapids Township.

Sgt. Joel Roon with the Kent County Sheriff’s Office says the semi-truck was stopped in traffic when the car collided with its trailer.

The driver of the car, a 32-year-old man from Muskegon, died in the crash. Authorities are withholding his name until his relatives have been notitifed.

Roon said no one else was injured in the crash.

The crash closed the right lane of East Beltline Avenue, but it has since reopened.
