GAINES TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — The Kent County Sheriff’s Department continues to ask for the community’s help tracking down a missing Gaines Township man.

Recently, detectives obtained footage of Russell Anderson leaving an area retail store March 18 just after 10:30 a.m. wearing the same outfit he was last seen in.

He was last seen leaving the store on his bicycle near Kalamazoo Avenue between 44th Street and 68th Street.

Investigators say Anderson, 56, left his house on a bicycle around 9 a.m. Monday and never returned home. Relatives said his disappearance is unusual because Anderson always comes back to care for his ailing father.

The sheriff’s office says Anderson typically rides his mountain bike around the area looking for returnable cans.

He was last seen wearing an orange reflective vest and jeans, and likely would be wearing a hooded sweatshirt, Sgt. Joel Roon stated in a Wednesday news release.

Anyone who spots Anderson encouraged to call 911 or detectives at 616.632.6339. Anonymous tips can also be submitted with Silent Observer by calling 616.774.2345.
