Amber Alert issued for boy, 13, after possible kidnapping

DETROIT (WOOD) — An Amber Alert has been issued for a 13-year-old boy from the Detroit area who police say may have been kidnapped.

Deontae Mitchell was last seen Tuesday night with his cousin outside Nino’s Market on E. Warren Avenue, reports WDIV-TV in Detroit.

Police say Deontae’s cousin told them a drunk man dropped some money while urinating outside the market and Mitchell picked it up.

The two boys reportedly left on bikes; however, the cousin said Deontae was then grabbed by a man in a black 2002 Chevy Impala with a loud muffler.

Police have identified the suspect as Gregory Walker, 45, of Detroit. Surveillance video released by police show Walker grabbing Deontae, taking him to a car and forcing him inside. According to the Amber Alert, he may be carrying a .22-caliber pistol and should be considered armed and dangerous.

WDIV reports that police executed multiple search warrants early Thursday morning and are gathering evidence from a home. Police say the person who lives at the home may know the suspect.

Deontae is described as 4 feet 11 inches tall, weighs 86 pounds and has hazel eyes. He was wearing a lime green Nautica shirt, gray jogging pants and black gym shoes.

Walker is described as 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs 175 pounds.

Anyone who sees the suspect or Deontae or knows where they may be is asked to called Detroit police at 313.596.5521 or 911 immediately.
