WMU hockey knocks off 4th-ranked Denver


KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — The No. 13 Western Michigan hockey team defeated No. 4 Denver 3-1 Friday night at Lawson Arena.

The Broncos got second period goals from Ethen Frank and Hugh McGing to build a 2-0 advantage. Denver scored in the third period, but McGing added an empty-netter to seal the victory.

Goalie Trevor Gorsuch tallied 21 saves in the victory.

Western Michigan improves to 14-8-1 overall. The Broncos host Denver again on Saturday night. The first puck drops at 7 p.m.
