PLAINFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Although the West Michigan Whitecaps fell to the Lake County Captains 2-0 Thursday, the team’s Millennial Night promotion was a hit.
The first 1,000 fans received a participation trophy. Fans were also stoked to join a save the bees campaign, stop at selfie stations, and show their best “dab” moves. The Whitecaps also held a bottle flip contest between innings.
For the most part, fans showed up with a sense of humor.
“We just really wanted to participate trophy. It’s been a long week of hard work and we feel we deserve something,” said two younger Whitecaps ticketholders.
“We’re celebrating the fact that the millennials have moved out,” one man said, indicating his kids. “We don’t have to worry about them anymore. Give them a trophy for that.”
