PLAINFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — The West Michigan Whitecaps fell 3-0 to the Fort Wayne TinCaps Thursday evening.

The loss at Fifth Third Ballpark ended the Whitecaps’ six-game winning streak.

The Whitecaps’ Jesus Rodriguez (2-3) was charged with the loss, allowing three runs. The TinCaps’ Nick Margevicius (3-2) earned the win on seven innings of shutout pitching.

Fort Wayne got the scoring started early in the first when Luis Campusano doubled to left field, scoring the game’s first run. That turned out to be the winning hit.

The TinCaps added two more runs in the first and fifth inning.

The Whitecaps’ Cole Peterson hit his sixth double of the season to put runners on second and third with one out in the fourth inning, but the Whitecaps failed to capitalize.

The Whitecaps resume play at 7:35 p.m. Friday in Indiana to open a three-game series against the South Bend Cubs.
