COMSTOCK PARK, Mich. (WOOD) — Lance Parrish will return as the manager of the West Michigan Whitecaps for the 2019 season, the team announced Thursday.
Parrish held the position last season, leading the team to a 69-70 overall record and a playoff appearance. The Whitecaps swept the Great Lakes Loons in the first round of the playoffs before losing to the eventual league championships, the Bowling Green Hot Rods.
Hudsonville native John Vander Wal will be on Parrish’s staff as the team’s hitting coach and former Detroit Tigers pitcher Willie Blair will be the team’s pitching coach.
West Michigan will hold its first game at Fifth Third Ballpark on April 6 against the South Bend Cubs.
