West Michigan native joins Harlem Globetrotters

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A Grand Rapids native is one of the newest members of the Harlem Globetrotters.

Tor’i “Bionic” Brooks will be a dunker for the Globetrotters’ 2019 Rookie Class.

As a basketball player at East Kentwood High School, Brooks was twice selected as all-conference.

As a star basketball and track and field athlete for Davenport University, he helped lead teams to eight conference championships and three National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics All-American Championships. He was also selected as an NAIA All-American seven times. He also set a school record for the high jump at 2.20 meters, and his longest jump ever recorded was 7.71 meters.

The Globetrotters’ 10-player rookie class is on tour. This is the Globetrotters’ 93rd season.
