KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — The United States Tennis Association youth national championship continued Wednesday as the top seeds in the 18s and 16s divisions advanced.
Patrick Kypson, the defending champion in the 18s, won straight sets 6-1, 6-1. With two USTA championships under his belt, Kypson could become the second person since the 1940s to win the tournament three times. Paul Goldstein was the last person to do so.
In the 16s, Keshav Chopra defeated Marcus McDaniel in three sets. After losing the opening set 2-6, Chopra won the second two 5-2 and 6-0.
The tournament continues through Aug. 12 at Kalamazoo College.
