CHICAGO (WOOD) — Portage Northern graduate Lisa Byington made history last year when she became the first woman to call a football game on the Big Ten Network.
Byington got her broadcasting start in Lansing and has handled sideline reporting for a few major networks. Last month at Big Ten Media Days in Chicago, she said there was a lot of pressure leading up to her first game in the booth.
“I knew when I walked in for the first time, there was going to be eyeballs on it, so I had to be ready,” Byington told 24 Hour News 8. “…I had to be good, at least, that first time to get a second or a third and hopefully a fourth.”
