KENTWOOD, Mich. (WOOD) — After 38 seasons as swim head coach at East Kentwood, Jock Ambrose is retiring.
Tuesday night was his final meet as the Falcons’ head coach. He has also coached the water polo team too.
Ambrose teams won state titles in 1983 and 1989. He also coached the Falcons to runner-up finishes in ’85, ’86, and ’88.
Ambrose’s impact on the Kentwood community goes well beyond the championships his teams won. He says he’ll be forever grateful for this career.
“It’s all about people and the relationships. It’s about setting those standards and getting kids to understand how to live up to them,” Ambrose said. “Having them come back later and have some of their kids come back and swim for me. It’s tremendous.”
