It was announced last week that Lansing is the host site for this year’s national tournament, but there is still a chance it could be played in Grand Rapids.
“We have a lot of good players who are able to step up in big moments,” GRFC midfielder Grace Labadie said. “They are used to last year and that experience helps a lot when you’re down or not playing well.”
“Having the background of winning the national championship last year, we know the caliber of teams we are going to go play against this weekend,” defender Michaela Kovacs said. “We know it’s going to be a tough grind.”
“I feel like we are in a position where we will play our game. That’s always what we talk about: Play our game,” head coach James Gilpin said. “It doesn’t matter what the opponent does. We figure out how we can exploit them and hopefully it works out.”
Semifinal games are set to be played Saturday, with the national championship game to be played the following day.
