GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Iowa scored four unanswered goals en route to a 7-3 victory over Grand Rapids Wednesday night at Van Andel Arena.
The loss was the seventh straight for the Griffins.
Turner Elson had Grand Rapids off to a fast start in the first period, scoring a wraparound goal just 38 seconds into the game.
Iowa answered with a goal of its own in the first period to tie the game 1-1. Then the Wild took control by scoring three second period goals to build a 4-1 lead.
Iowa outscored Grand Rapids 3-2 in the third period to bring the score to 7-3.
Grand Rapids remains one point away from clinching a seventh consecutive playoff berth.
The Griffins host the Manitoba Moose Friday night at 7 p.m.
