GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The battles for district titles produced three candidates for bragging rights in the season’s final Football Frenzy play of the week poll.
- Hopkins “hook and ladder” — With Hopkins trailing Kalamazoo United late in the fourth quarter, Nolan Smith, Colin Weber and Cole Marshall hooked up on a 21-yard “hook and ladder” for a Vikings touchdown. However, their comeback bid came up short and Hopkins fell to Kalamazoo United 46-35.
- Jack Richardson — With Rockford trailing Hudsonville 21-16 with just four minutes to play, senior Richardson cut back on the field three different times in route to 47-yard touchdown run. The Rams edged the Eagles 24-21 to advance.
- Jace Williams — The Grand Rapids Catholic Central sophomore leaped and dove for a 37-yard touchdown catch on a pass from Joe Collins, helping CC knock off Whitehall 42-7 and advance in the playoffs.
The winner was Williams, with nearly 44 percent of the vote.
