DETROIT (WOOD) — Edwardsburg defeated Chelsea 28-7 to claim its first state championship in school history.
The Eddies built a first half lead of 8-0 when Cade Goggins scored from five yards out. The two point conversion was good.
Chelsea scored early in the second quarter when Hunter Neff made a one-handed catch on a pass thrown from Quinn Starkey. The extra point made it 8-7.
It stayed that until the opening drive of the second half, when Mac Gaideski scored on a 5-yard run, and the two-point conversion made the score to 16-7.
Edwardsburg capped the scoring with a Tre Harvey 5-yard run and a Coggins 54-yard run.
Edwardsburg finished its season with a perfect 14-0.
