EAST LANSING, Mich. (WOOD) — Last basketball season, Deyonta Davis was lacing up his sneakers in West Michigan, dominating the competition while he played for the Muskegon Big Reds.
Now, the former Mr. Basketball is suiting up for the Michigan State Spartans and dominating in the Big Ten.
“Senior year (of high school), I just really thought that I can go to the next level, so I just put all my effort into it,” Davis said.
He is soft-spoken and often comes across as reserved, but at 6-foot-10, the freshman center lets his game do the talking.
“That’s what I like doing, blocking shots,” he said. “Sometimes it relieves me of my stress. When I got too much, I just look to block shots.”Above, 24 Hour News 8’s Zach Sepanik has the story of Davis’ journey to the next level.
