SPOKANE, Washington (WOOD) — After winning every game played since mid-February, the Central Michigan University women’s basketball team fell short in its Sweet 16 matchup in the NCAA Tournament.
CMU took on Oregon, who dominated the Chippewas throughout most of the contest, coming away with a 83-69 win.
Problems started early for CMU, who went into halftime trailing 40-25 after shooting 30 percent from the field. Despite overcoming its offensive woes in the second half, the Chippewas were unable to slow down Oregon’s offense after getting dominated in the paint for most of the game.
It was the deepest postseason run in CMU’s history, who finished the season with a 30-5 record and won the Mid-American Conference Tournament to earn the NCAA Tournament bid.
