MECOSTA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A wrong-way driver was hospitalized after crashing into a semi-truck in Mecosta County on Tuesday.
Deputies say around 7:30 p.m. the driver, a 41-year-old Fremont man, was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of US-131 near 8 Mile Road in Mecosta Township, near Stanwood, when he collided with a southbound semi-truck.
The Fremont man was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The semi driver was not injured.
Deputies believe alcohol and or drugs may be a factor in the crash.
The crash caused the intersection to shut down for several hours.
