Wedgwood Christian Services recently hosted an event called The State of the Child. It brought together a panel of experts to respond to the issues students face today. We partnered with them to bring the conversation in studio, asking a selection of area teens what they really struggle with today. Their number one answer? Anxiety.
Experts from Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital and Ferris State University responded to kid’s experience with anxiety by acknowledging the considerable amount of pressure teenagers go through this time of year. College applications, grade point averages, and standardized testing cause great stress. Thankfully, schools have the resources available to relieve kid’s anxiety, especially in this season of college preparation.
Remember, even though kids are acting more mature on the outside, internally they can be struggling. Parents need to offer the help and guidance during these formative years and lean into professional resources available.
