GAINES TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — West Michigan Chick-fil-A lovers, the wait is almost over.
Nearly eight months after developers pitched their plans to bring Chick-fil-A to West Michigan, ground work on the restaurant is underway.
Officials will hold a groundbreaking ceremony Thursday on the new restaurant, which will be located at 1545 Edgeknoll Drive SE.
The Gaines Township location will be the second stand-alone Chick-fil-A under construction in Michigan. The other location in Lansing is expected to serve up its first meal this fall.
West Michigan’s Chick-fil-A will feature two drive thru lanes, an indoor play place and seating for 132 people with additional patio seating for 20.
The business, which is slated to open in the first quarter of 2017, is expected to create 80 to 90 jobs.
During the afternoon groundbreaking ceremony, Chick-fil-A officials plan to update their plans to add more than a dozen additional locations in Michigan.
