KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — A Portage woman says she was frozen with shock before she was stabbed multiple times in her home last week.

Victoria Enos, 43, was attacked at her home just after midnight on May 5. She told 24 Hour News 8 over Skype on Wednesday that she first noticed something was off when she went to get a glass of water and saw lights flickering in the kitchen “like a flashlight.” She said she thought it was her kids at first.

“They should’ve been sleeping,” Enos said. “So I said, ‘What’s going on out there?’ And the light went out and I clicked on the kitchen light and the kid turned his head from me, all I could see was his back and brown hair and a grey shirt and dark pants.

“I didn’t know who it was. I froze…” she continued. “So I the next thing I know, the kid did some kind of crazy thing with his hands and then he just went straight at me and I just I froze and I didn’t even know he was stabbing me at first.”

She was stabbed multiple times in the chest and arms before the knife-wielding attacker fled.

“I was on the floor in my bedroom, laying on stomach while holding my arm with my pajamas over it” to try to stop the bleeding, Enos recalled.

She says she dragged herself to the phone to call 911.

Enos was initially hospitalized in critical condition, but has since been released from the hospital.

Police said on Tuesday they had arrested a suspect in the case.

The suspect in the case, 19-year-old Brandon Luevano, was arraigned Wednesday on felony charges of first-degree home invasion, assault with intent to commit great bodily harm and two counts of unlawful driving away of an automobile, according to Kalamazoo County Prosecutor Jeff Getting.

A $150,000 cash bond was set, but it has not been posted at this time. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 31.

Enos says Luevano knows her daughter. She said he wanted to hang out with her daughter on the night of May 4, but she told him she was too tired. He apparently stayed in the house, later attacking Enos.–24 Hour News 8’s Sarah Hurwitz contributed to this report.
