HOLLAND, Mich. (AP) — The Tulip Time festival in western Michigan is trying again to break a record for dancing in wooden shoes after an attempt last year fell short.
This year’s attempt is scheduled for Saturday night at Kollen Park in Holland. Festival organizers want to set a record for the largest number of people dancing simultaneously in wooden shoes.
The record currently stands at about 2,600 people. Organizers say about 1,700 people turned out for the attempt to break the record at last year’s festival.
The attempt is being held in partnership with Bethan Christian Services, an adoption support agency. About $30,000 was raised for post-adoption services in last year’s attempt.
