The Right Place, Inc., West Michigan’s economic development agency, announced Wednesday that a Michigan Strategic Fund incentive was approved to bring Knight Transportation to West Michigan.
Knight Transportation’s first Michigan logistics branch will be located at 555 Fourth Street NW in Grand Rapids. It is expected to create 87 new jobs and $574,000 in new investment to the city over the next three years, according to a news release from The Right Place, Inc.
Knight Transportation is one of North America’s largest and most diversified truckload transportation companies, according to The Right Place. Forbes Magazine has repeatedly listed Knight to their Top 200 Best Small Companies.
“When selecting a site for our new office we felt it was important to locate in a city with a vibrant and growing economy that provides access to a highly skilled work force,” Mike McClelland, Senior Vice President of Knight Transportation, stated in a news release. “The Grand Rapids community and surrounding area gives access to some of the most distinguished colleges and universities and also gives our employees a great place to live.”
